Understanding and Implementing Lean for Medical and Hospital Administration

Lean principles have proven to have numerous practical applications for medical and hospital administration. Lean thinking and the use of lean tools have been successfully implemented in major medical facilities with measurable improvements for everything from patient paperwork, to clogged waiting rooms in various specialty departments, to redesigning ambulatory practices, to how nurses care for home patients and record their medical data. All Lean initiatives in the medical and hospital arena have three main goals:

  • A Focus on the Patient
  • Improve Business Processes
  • Lower Costs

Through lectures, discussions, demonstrations and workshops, you will learn how to identify and reduce waste that costs your organization time and money, frustrates you and your associates and often leads to loss. You will also learn an integrated business approach to successfully drive out non-value added activities in your processes.

This corporate workshop includes a pre-meeting preparation day by the instructor to select the processes the teams will work on during the training. The program is presented as two separate days with at least three weeks between sessions. Participants meet as teams in between the two session days to complete an assignment and prepare for team presentations at the beginning of session two.
