Biomanufacturing Education & Training Center
Ground breaking Spring 2011. Doors opening Fall 2012.
WPI Biomanufacturing Education and Training Center, the first of its kind in the northeast
In partnership with state and industry leaders, Worcester Polytechnic Institute has broken ground on the WPI Biomanufacturing Education and Training Center (BETC) - the first of its kind in the Northeast. A pilot-scale biomanufacturing facility, the new center builds on more than a decade of the university operating a smaller facility and working with companies on workforce development programs.
WPI BETC will be located within the newest building planned for Gateway Park. Working together, our vision and experience can deliver the results you need: a steady stream of highly qualified and motivated employees who are productive from day one. For more information on how you can take advantage of the WPI BETC, contact Amanda Maurer at WPI Corporate and Professional Education +1-508-831-4179 or betc@wpi.edu, or sign-up for updates as we countdown to the doors opening in late 2012.
Programs--The new center will provide day and evening programs for workers transitioning into the biotech industry and incumbent workers who need training on particular processing operations or cross-training.
Production—The facilities will be available for production of viable non-cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices) products, pilot plant processing, and join research projects.
Projects—WPI credit-bearing classes, and student and faculty projects, may also take place within the new facility.
