Finance for the Non-Financial Professional - UPDATED
Program Description
Whether we recognize it or not, financial statements and related accounting terminology are almost exclusively the means by which the performance of MOST business enterprises are measured and discussed.
It is important that individual contributors and senior managers understand how financial success is measured, and how THEY as individuals influence the financial performance of their organizations. Key professionals in all areas are expected to use financial data to make operating decisions, allocate limited resources, develop operating budgets and participate in strategic business planning.
In this workshop, you will learn the fundamentals of how to interpret and analyze the three principal financial statements: the balance sheet; the summary of operations; and, the cash flow statement.
You will learn how to use financial statements effectively and leave the accounting theory to the accountants. You will develop fluency with regard to accounting concepts and terms as they relate to financial statements. You will also learn about what is – and what isn’t – contained in financial statements and when and why you should challenge them. By the end of this workshop, you will have acquired a solid grasp of what information is conveyed in the basic financial statements; how to analyze the information; and how to use the information to make informed decisions, ask the right questions and improve performance.
The program concludes with a section on capital budgeting and cost analysis. Throughout the two days, participants will follow a path of guided discovery through the mechanics and uses of financial statements, coupled with hands-on exercises to help obtain first-hand experience with how these financial statements are manipulated and interpreted.
