Program Description

Successful project managers are highly competent planners, effective managers and strong leaders. Successful project managers need to understand the technical aspects of their projects; know how to use the appropriate tools for planning and controlling projects; and effectively lead teams and organizations. Since project managers typically work across functional lines, they must have the skills to gain support from key executives, influence without authority, manage conflict, and lead individuals and groups.

In this very interactive workshop, you will develop your leadership skills as a project manager. You will learn to communicate more effectively to sell your ideas, to influence behavior, to gain commitment, and to recommend adjustments in project scope. You will examine ways to manage conflict and overcome resistance to change. You will develop new strategies for handling personal agendas, turf wars and difficult team members. Through a combination of lecture, discussion, leadership assessment and participant feedback, you will achieve greater insight into the many complex aspects of leading projects and people.

Having determined your own leadership strengths, you will leave this workshop with a personal action plan to become a more effective project leader.

Prerequisite: Attendees should have completed a project management seminar or have substantial background in project management.
