Ten Courses
The program for a master of science in fire protection engineering is flexible and can be tailored to individual student career goals. The MS degree requires 30 credit hours.
Students, in consultation with their faculty advisor, develop a Plan of Study for the MS program.
Background Requirements
Applicants for admission to the master's degree program should hold at least a BS degree in engineering (or equivalent), engineering technology or the physical sciences. Additionally, an academic background in heat transfer, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics and differential equations is needed. Applicants from other related disciplines may be asked to take selected undergraduate courses to round out their backgrounds.
Distance Technology
Classes are captured in video as they are taught real-time at WPI’s Worcester campus and then streamed on the Internet. Each course has additional web-based content and a suite of collaboration tools that help to foster interaction among faculty and students.
