Fire Protection Engineering Programs
In recent decades, the practice of fire protection engineering has emerged as a sophisticated, challenging, and demanding profession. However, few universities offer the course work required for advancement in this field. In 1993 WPI began delivery of fire protection engineering courses to off-campus students via its distance learning network. Today, WPI remains one of only two universities in the United States offering graduate degrees in fire protection engineering and the only one to offer a master of science and related advanced certificate entirely from a distance. Environmental Engineering Programs
WPI offers both a master of science and graduate certificates in environmental engineering. Designed for practicing professionals, the focus of these offerings is on water treatment, wastewater treatment, hazardous waste treatment, and ground- and surface-water flow. System Dynamics
System dynamics is a computer simulation-based approach to the construction and analysis of mathematical models of economic, social, and physical systems; system dynamics modeling is applied in a variety of application areas—biology, ecology, economics, business, public policy, etc. There is a strong and growing demand for graduate-level training in systems modeling in industry and government organizations.
