Five courses
If you already have a master's degree, an advanced certificate of graduate study is available whether you hold a master's degree in civil or environmental engineering or other related areas. This certificate is obtained after completion of five thematically related courses none of which were included in your formal master's program of study. Up to two courses taken at WPI prior to formal admission may be counted toward the advanced graduate certificate.
Background Requirements
A B.S. degree in civil, chemical or mechanical engineering is normally required. Students with a B.S. in other engineering disciplines as well as physical and life sciences are eligible, provided they meet the requirements below:
- Mathematics and Science (minimum 4 units equivalent to 12 three-credit courses).
- Mathematics must include differential and integral calculus and differential equations.
- Science must include both chemistry and physics with a minimum of two courses in either.
- Fluid Mechanics (An online independent study in Fluid Mechanics is available for graduate level students).
