Leadership Institute
Designed for a group of exceptionally talented employees, this program consists of up to five full-day sessions focusing on various aspects of leadership covering both internal issues like team-building and process improvement as well as outward-looking topics such as innovation and best practices. Each day combines rich experiences with instructor-led discussions and workshops, all focused around the company's core values and mission. Full meals and accommodations are provided to keep all participants focused and involved, allowing them to build lasting relationships while achieving a higher level of personal development.
One of the greatest benefits from this week-long program is the time the participants have to reflect on the teachings – time away from the day-to-day responsibilities of their work lives. A great deal of the learning occurs outside of the classroom. The classroom environment, reading and instruction provide the framework for the discussions and deliberations that go on throughout the week, day and night, at dinners and informal group sessions.
The Leadership Institute at WPI is a highly customized executive education solution intended to instill an organization with skills and behaviors essential to remain competitive. It is designed to link people, strategy and operations. In today’s world it is not enough to have a corporate vision - the real test is successfully executing the vision. A leader's most important job is to find and retain people to execute that strategy. It is the leader’s responsibility to provide employees with the tools and the coaching they need to be successful. Customized Corporate Delivery
WPI offers customized corporate delivery of the Leadership Institute which includes format flexibility to meet the needs of your specific organization. Ranging from three to five full-days, with the program being held at our Worcester campus, at your corporate site, or in a convenient, central location. One off-site day is recommended to do a team-building event held at a convenient off-site location – we work with you to design the format that meets your needs. Distance learning, web-conferencing and online discussion groups are also available for individuals or organizations that have time constraints.

Spotlight on the WPI-Nypro Leadership Institute
Challenge: Nypro, a leader in plastic injection molding manufacturing, needed to develop the strategic mind-set and operational leadership abilities of their mid-level managers. As Nypro expanded into the global marketplace, they were faced with the additional challenge of working collaboratively across cultures.
Solution: The WPI-Nypro Leadership Institute
WPI began to develop this Institute with Nypro over 12 years ago. By analyzing the needs of the organization, WPI's program specialists were able to design a unique program that has been enormously successful in helping Nypro meet their goals and remain competitive. To date, over 370 managers have been selected to participate in this intensive training program which is held on the WPI campus.
The Leadership Institute consists of four days of fast-paced learnings: Organization Development and Change; Theory of Profound Knowledge; Team Building utilizing a series of experiential activities; and Developing Great Leadership Skills. The Institute is the cornerstone to the motivation and professional development of Nypro's future leaders. In the summer of 2006 the Institute will be introduced to over 40 employees in China as part of their continuing global expansion.
